AMORY, Miss. (April 19, 2016)—

NauticStar Boats has launched its most advanced bay boat to date—the full-featured 227 XTS. Whether you are a tournament or recreational angler, you will not be disappointed with the all new 227 XTS – Xtreme Tournament Series bay boat. This 22’ 6” beauty has plenty of standard features such as the center console with optional walk-in dressing room, forward and aft fishing decks, 3-across jump seats aft, a deluxe leaning post, and a console big enough for 12-inch electronics. This boat takes full advantage of every inch of space for exceptional fishability with rod lockers, livewell/baitwells forward and aft, 30 gallon insulated fish box, cast net storage, recessed rod storage, and easy access tackle storage. For coastal or fresh water fishing, the 227 XTS offers a stable platform for a successful day on the water.

“Bay style boats have become extremely popular over the last several years due to their versatility,” says NauticStar Boats President, Phil Faulkner. “They are no longer just the choice of tournament anglers. In addition to the serious angler, they are also being sought-after by recreational anglers and family boaters. This demand has prompted us to introduce the 227 XTS. The 3-across aft passenger seating, center console with walk-in dressing room that will accommodate a portable toilet, and many other family friendly features along with the tournament level fishing features, make this new boat a very exciting addition to our XTS bay boat line.”

The 227 XTS hull design features the exclusive NauticStar S.T.A.R. Performance System:

  • Shallow water draft for ease in beaching and shallow water fishing
  • Tournament ready with 2-tournament livewells and rod storage for up to 28-rods
  • Acceleration due to the planing pods and air assist chine
  • Ride utilizing the sharp entry Vee Hull forward

1Yamaha Marine ran the 227 XTS through a rigorous performance test and it delivered some impressive stats. Powered with a four stroke VF250XA, the 227 planed in just 3.17 seconds and topped-out at 61.0 MPH with a fuel burn of only 4.07 MPG at cruise.

The 227 XTS is 22’6” LOA, with a beam of 102” and is rated for up to 250 HP. Fuel capacity is 63-gallons. Passenger capacity is 8-persons. Deadrise at bow entry is 40° with the aft deadrise being 16°. Approximate draft is 13”.

The 227’s aft fishing deck has portside cast net/bucket storage and starboard removable tackle storage. The 3-across jump seat back flips down to complete the large fishing platform or up for comfortable passenger seating. Under the port and starboard jump seat there is storage for cranking batteries and other gear. A 40-gallon tournament livewell/baitwell is situated under the center seat that includes an aerator pump, recirculating pump, air injection and high-speed pickup. 2-flush mounted stainless steel seat bases are also included.

The self-bailing cockpit has port and starboard horizontal rod holders recessed in the gunnel wall for six rods (3 each side). Flush-mounted in the gunnel are 2-trolling rod holders and 6-stainless steel pull-up cleats.

At the heart of the 227’s list of outstanding features is the ergonomic center console and captain’s station. It houses a spacious walk-in dressing room that will accommodate a portable toilet and has a forward facing seat that incorporates a 13-gallon livewell/baitwell molded into the front of the console.

The captain’s station has a deluxe leaning post with made-on backrest, custom upholstered seat with storage, folding footrest, and rocket launcher rod holders. The sculpted instrument panel has enough space for 12” electronics and comes standard with speedometer, tachometer, fuel and volt gauges. The switch panel has custom stainless steel toggle switches with integrated circuit breaker protection. The captain’s station is finished off nicely with a pair of lighted stainless steel drink holders and a custom stainless steel wheel with power knob.

The bow fishing deck houses a 30-gallon insulated fish box in the step-up to the deck and is flanked by port and starboard top-entry rod lockers that are easily accessed due to the “double barrel” hinge hardware. Each rod locker has an organizer that holds up to 5 rods. Plenty of gear can be stowed in the front storage located in the deck. It is finished-off with a flush-mounted seat base and anchor locker.

The two-tone “doeskin and Caribbean cream” upholstery is not only pleasing to the eye and comfortable but also is very durable due to the Syntec® vinyl with Nano Block Technology® stain protection. NauticStar manufactures their upholstery in-house to assure the best quality control and offer more value.

Not only is the 227 XTS great performing boat with a lot of comfort and fishability features, they are built and designed to give many years of reliable service. Some of the construction features include:

  • Limited Lifetime Warranty
  • All composite, 100% wood-free construction
  • Vinyl Ester barrier coat
  • One-piece foam-filled stringer system
  • Watertight Deutsch® electrical connectors on all pumps and lights
