NauticStar 231 Series Merges Family Pleasure Boating with Serious Fishing
After experiencing 4 model years of success with the NauticStar 210 Coastal and Angler, NauticStar, LLC has introduced a bigger and newly designed 231 Coastal and Angler.
The 231 series merges family style pleasure boating with serious saltwater and freshwater fishing.
“We are still having great success with the 210 Coastal and Angler but we kept getting a demand for a bigger and higher horsepower rated boat. People want to go farther out on a good day and they want a more comfortable bigger boat ride,” said NauticStar president Phil Faulkner. “The NauticStar 231 Coastal and Angler have met that demand.”
The 231 hull design features the exclusive NauticStar STAR Performance System:
S–Shallow water draft for ease in beaching and shallow water fishing
T–Tow-Great Tow boat due to the aft dead rise and width at the transom
A–Acceleration due to the planning pods and air assist chine
R–Ride utilizing the sharp entry Vee Hull forward
Yamaha Marine* has tested the 231 and has published some really attractive numbers. Powered with a four stroke F150XA the boat planned in 3.50 seconds had a top speed of 45.1 MPH with a fuel burn of only 4.85 MPG at cruise. With a Yamaha F200XB the 231 impressed with a quick accelerating top speed of 47.4 MPH.
Both the 231 Coastal and 231 Angler are 22’9” LOA, with a beam of 102” and rated for up to 200 horsepower. Fuel Capacity is 66 gallons. Passenger capacity is 10 persons. SeaStar Hydraulic Steering system with tilt is standard.
An optional bow table stowed in the lower position makes a large casting deck or sun lounge with the optional bow filler cushion. In the raised position the table makes a comfortable place to have your lunch and a cold drink.
There is also an optional bow-casting chair with a removable pedestal and flush mount stainless steel base with a brass insert that allows the pedestal to be screwed in by hand for safety. A bow anchor locker tooled into the deck makes a perfect spot to stow and secure your anchor, line and chain.
Convert the family style fishing boat to a serious fishing machine by unsnapping out the bow cushions. This also makes cleanup a snap after a full day on the water.
Below the bow deck seats there are 2 insulated fish boxes with overboard drains. A 15-gallon bow cooler is insulated and has a lid with a tight seal to keep your ice “ice” during those hot summer days.
The front casting platform has a lot of space and can also receive an optional foot or hand control Minn Kota electric trolling motor.
In the cockpit at the captain’s station there is a leaning post with a 94-quart cooler underneath. The newly styled console has a kick panel with a footpad. The console is loaded with full instrumentation, lighted waterproof switches with circuit breakers and lighted drink holders. The console is topped off with an “eye brow” to shade the gauges, a compass and an attractive curved windshield. Inside the console is a privacy dressing room that can receive a portable toilet.
The unique aft deck both doubles as a rear casting/fishing deck and converts to 3 cross seating by flipping up the 3 jump seats. Just simply fold down the jump seats and its time to fish again as you go from fishing spot to fishing spot. There is battery storage under the starboard jump seat, cast net storage under the portside jump seat and a 27 gallon aerated release well under the center jump seat.
The 231 series has a total of 6 rod holders, 2 for trolling in the aft deck and 4 port and starboard in the gunnels.
The two-tone “Doeskin and Caribbean Cream” upholstery not only is pleasing to the eye and comfortable but also is very durable due to the Syntec vinyl with Nano-Block Stain Protection.
Standard features on the 231 Angler also include a swim platform, Sunbrella Bimini top with ball and socket hardware and an Infinity Blue Tooth Stereo with a single pin and USB connector. These features are optional on the 231 Coastal.
Not only are the 231 series great performing boats with a lot of comfort features, they are built and designed to give many years of reliable service. Some of the construction features include:
- Syntec vinyl with Nano-Block Stain Protection
- Wood Free construction
- Watertight deutche electrical connectors on all pumps and lights
- One-piece foam filled stringer system
- Limited Lifetime Warranty
