A Statement from Fred Ross Regarding NauticStar Status After Amory, MS, Tornado

On Friday night, March 24, a tornado moved through the city of Amory, MS, causing substantial damage to residential areas as well as several businesses. Let me say that as a family company, when we look around at our community, our hearts are broken to see all the damage, and we will grieve for the losses in our community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all these families.

Our main priority has been ensuring the wellbeing of our 250 employees and their families. No employees nor their families were injured, but eight experienced major damage to their homes or vehicles, including two employees with total losses. We are providing assistance to those employees in need, as well as helping the Amory community.

I am so proud of all our employees and am grateful to have them as part of our team.  I would like to thank all of the dealers who have reached out with offers to help in any way, and for that I am very grateful.

The NauticStar factory did sustain damage to two of the five buildings on property, but the other three buildings were largely untouched. The factory and the surrounding area are without power and water, and there is substantial cleanup that is continuing to take place.

However, through the help of portable generators and the hard work of our staff, I am pleased to announce we will be restarting operations on a limited basis tomorrow, Wednesday, March 29, and we will be working to increase production to get back to normal levels as soon as possible. We’re also conducting thorough assessments of boats that were in process or in finished goods and will update dealers on the status of boats early next week so that dealers can communicate with customers regarding their orders. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and patronage, and we will keep you apprised on our progress as developments are evolving.

We will pick ourselves up, repair our plant and come back stronger than ever.
